Where are we headed when we can't even speak directly to each other? Instead go straight to voicemail: http://bit.ly/bcBOpq Fri, Jul 30, 2010 Follow me on Twitter
Well, the first week of classes is just about over. Yep, I’m still chugging along. One of the interesting things about this week was the realization that in one of my classes I only have an assignment to turn in on 5 of the 10 weeks. For the other 5 weeks, all I have to do is the weekly readings. Now here is where the integrity parts comes in. You see, at the end of the 10 weeks of class each one of us is responsible for submitting a reading report. This report basically says how much reading you actually did – 50%, 70%, 100%, etc. You write that in yourself each week, keeping track of how much you’ve actually read. In the end, the reading accounts for 20% of your whole grade.
It would be so easy to read absolutely nothing and write down 100% each week, wouldn’t it? It really would! But I hope that students attending seminary set a higher bar for themselves; not sacrificing their integrity for the sake of a grade. Is this just easy for me to say because I am just starting out and it is just the first week? I hope that’s not the case – I pray that throughout this experience, I will not once sacrifice my integrity for the sake of a grade. At this point, only God knows how that will turn out in the end.
In the meantime, I do have to say that struggling through this week’s reading in my OT 512 class has been very, VERY difficult. The material so far hasn’t really captured my attention nearly as much as my other class. I hope that since the chapter was just an introduction to what is to come and more theory than anything, that there is something better coming in the next weeks. It’s all what you put into it, though, right? RIGHT? I certainly hope so…
